After all the shocking discoveries, a very important question arise that what will happen to the canal in future? Will it ever be pollution free? Will people be able to change their habits and stop making the canal dirty? The authorities came up with an answer to all these questions. The deputy mayor Celia Blauel said in one of the interviews she gave regarding the canal, “If everyone mucks in and avoids throwing anything into the water, we might be able to swim in the canal in a few years.” Her answer did show that she was very hopeful about the good future of the canal. But for this to be true, the residents and the tourists have to work together in order to keep the canal clean.
