Astonishing Revelation Of Identity Of A Janitor!

Another Hero

Vernon Baker in his old age after retirement

Here I have another tale of bravery for you to feel proud of. Another brave heart to inspire you.
The tale of Vernon Baker from Cheyenne, Wyoming. He was born in 1919 and was the youngest of the three children his parents had. He lost his parents in very early age in a car accident. He was four only when God was rude enough to take way his parents. Their grandparents raised the three kids. Baker always proved to be the strong one. He went on completing his education am graduated from Clarinda, Iowa. Baker was sure that he wants to serve his country by being part of the army. He started with menial jobs but his goal was always set. He focused on that only. Every step by his was in direction of becoming the part of US army.
Finally after years of struggle he was able to get himself in the US Army in year 1941. I say struggle because he didn’t enroll himself the easy way. In earlier days of his efforts to get in the army was stomped upon by officials, who said- “We don’t have any quotas for you people.” But this never stopped him from achieving his dream. And after long chain of efforts, he was finally in US Army.

    1. I am pleased our nation’s military has finally and properly honored these brave men…and mildly proud as a retired Air Force man that our Academy family had a part to play in some of it. I will be looking to visit LT Baker’s gravesite at Arlington to honor him again and again on behalf of a grateful nation and fellow service member.
