No wonders, if a soldier has served his country with full dedication without any faults, he would be yielding some benefits by the government. But with Baker it was different. Even after his whole sole contribution, he wasn’t given commission. And you won’t believe the reason. The only reason was because he didn’t have a college degree. Yes. That is the reason he was denied his commission. He was obviously respected for his service but the rules got good of him and he lost the benefits. This was where the challenges started.
He again joined Army during Korean War and served the nation as a military man till the year 1968. Later he became a Red Cross counselor.
He was not awarded for his bravery till then. And also he never thought of what was coming his way.
