Puller took command of the first Marine regiment during the battle in Peleiu. This battle turned out to be the most intense one in the history of Marine Corps. Puller received two Legion of Merit awards. This award is given to men who has shown outstanding meritorious conduct. All this achievements in the battle couldn’t turn into celebration because his brother Samuel D Puller was killed by enemies in Guam. He immediately had to return back home.
It is truly said, when you get something, you lose something too.
