Doane Robinson is the father of Mount Rushmore. He is behind this masterpiece. His idea along with sculptor Gutzon Borglum creativity made South Dakota a tourist spot which still tops the charts of tourist places. Doane Robinson met sculptor first time in 1924 and together they created The Confederate Memorial Carving on Stone Mountain in Georgia.
Gutzon couldn’t hold himself back once he heard Robinson’s idea. They both wanted to do something big and their collected efforts made that happen. The fist step was to choose the location where they could turn their imagination into reality. They both first decided the location as Needles near Custer but the granite condition wasn’t suitable which would have lead to fatal situations of the workers. So where did they decided to make it happen?
